BIPOC MASSAGE FUND

The BIPOC Massage Fund is a mutual aid fund at Good Moon that provides healing bodywork to those that would otherwise be unable to access due to the effects of systemic racism.

With every client's purchase, 10% goes into the fund, helping BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) receive treatment. Separate donations are also incredibly welcomed and will bolster the fund outside of regular clientele, ensuring the health and longevity of this crucial health initiative.

THE PROBLEM

Good Moon Bodywork acknowledges it operates on Turtle Island, land stolen from Haudenosaunee people by European colonizers, now known as Buffalo, NY. Those colonizers set in motion a systemic marginalization of Indigenous and Black communities in perpetuity. They destabilized, oppressed, exploited and committed genocide against them throughout the modern history of this territory. Today, so many people of Color are facing enormous obstacles as a direct result of this history, and the subsequent systems designed to work against them.

"The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being." - Toni Morrison

THE EFFECT

Being on the receiving end of racism is exhausting. Micro and macro aggressions in society at-large can feel like death by a thousand cuts. While most of the mandated institutions of our society harm all of us, the effects of marginalization on a Black and Brown individuals' physical, mental, and spiritual body can be particularly heavy.

"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." - Lilla Watson

THE SOLUTION

[interim]

Every donation added to the fund is exclusively reserved for use by the BIPOC community. Those who have been locked out of generational prosperity by fundamentally racist systems will have the opportunity to access healing and restorative bodywork provided by members of their community.

Donors will be engaging meaningfully with anti-racism and wealth redistribution to provide material improvement to their neighbors' wellbeing. Anti-racism is an effective way to challenge and combat racism, bigotry, and inequality. It is an active stance that can help create a more just, equitable, and inclusive society.
